In the last edition of our newsletter I reported on the various changes that had taken place which had led us to operate under our new global branding of Premier Healthcare Professionals. I am pleased to report that this transition has been extremely successful and our business continues to grow at pace. This growth is occurring at a time when the temporary healthcare staffing industry in many countries is facing new challenges.

In the US, for example, we are aware that a number of placement agencies are experiencing difficulties in obtaining a good geographic spread of open positions for their nurse candidates. I believe that this situation has arisen in recent months because of the vast array of new agencies that have entered the marketplace. These new agencies have been attracted by the much publicised staffing shortages but they have overlooked the desire of healthcare facilities to work almost exclusively with long established placement agencies whom they trust and understand.

Fortunately, PHP benefits during these competitive times from a very stable group of staff many of which have been employed within the healthcare staffing industry, and indeed with our own group of companies for periods in excess of 10 years. Very few other organisations can boast having such a stable and experienced team of staff. These staff members have an exceptional portfolio of contacts within the healthcare industry and continue to surprise our healthcare candidates with the number of placement opportunities that they have at their disposal.

GO WEST TO NEW MEXICO Go west, has been an expression as old in America as the country itself and there might not be a better time to follow those words than now. Currently we are staffing individuals in the great state of New Mexico. Rarely has a state been able to offer an individual so much in forms of history, amazing weather, and a warm hospitality to match. New Mexico is a state rich in history and glorious recreation dedicated to it. A history that began between 9,000-10,000 years ago with the Folsom-Paleo Indians, and continues through influence of Spanish and European cultures. In 1912, New Mexico entered as the 47th state of the Union and has been a blessing ever since, offering residents and visitors some of the most enchanting desert views imaginable. Also, with the 31 state parks one could easily find any recreation desired. Perhaps, one of the most exciting events that annually attracts visitors to New Mexico is the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. This event features a hot air balloon race that has its origins from a 13 balloon race in 1972. Every year more and more people come out to witness this breathtaking race in the sky. The event, which is held on the first weekend of October, now brings over 1,000 balloons and pilots together to be a part of one of the world’s most photographed spectacles. Cities such as Albuquerque also have activities, such as, fishing, multiple museums, golf, tennis, and much more. The average weather conditions for New Mexico promises an average of 75% sunshine yearly. The temperature in New Mexico can range from the high 90s in the south to the low 80s in the north in the summer, and in the winter possible lows reaching the teens in the north to mid 20s in the south. However, due to the little humidity in the region neither of these temperatures will feel that extreme. If you are ready to make that move in your life, now might be the time to do as those before us, and “go west” and make New Mexico your home – well for at least 13 weeks!! We are currently staffing in the following cities in New Mexico: Carlsbad, Grants, Springer, Roswell, Espanola, Albuquerque, Taos, Santa Fe, Socorno, Truth or Consequences, Las Vegas, Los Alamos, Los Lunas, Las Cruces, Los Lunas, Clovis, Gallup, Farmington and Alamagordo.
